SCOPE

  • Promotion of shrimp aquaculture in inland areas.
  • Development of shrimp value chain, support services and legal framework.
  • Livelihood and job creation for rural people.
  • Export earnings from inland aquaculture.

  • Staff hired for PMU.
  • The hiring of Project Manager Completed.
  • Necessary procurement for PMU completed
  • Land identified for establishment of 01 Model Shrimp farm file in process for section 4 with DC Jhelum and revenue department.
  • The site identified for Hatchery and negotiations with Pakistan Navy for land provision is under process.

Punjab Component

  • PIU established, PD appointed
  • The site selected for the Saline water Aquaculture Research Centre at Muzaffargarh and civil work awarded.
  • Civil work awarded for up-gradation of training centers at Bahawalpur and Rawalpindi.
  • Conducted experiment on Artemia culture.
  • Construction and renovation of Training hostels are in process.

Sindh Component

  • Sindh is still not part of the project.

The Project will help to improve the activities related to fisheries and will provide opportunities to different parts of society to improve its prosperity. The extra activities generated by the project will generate employment for the unemployed part of society. This will improve the social interaction of society and ultimately will enhance peace and remove the negative attitudes in society. Direct employment will be generated as the project will be in operation. Moreover, indirect employment will be generated in the other relevant sectors of the economy through this project.
