SCOPE

  • Plantation of olive plants on 50,000 acres
  • To develop infrastructure/capacity for mass-scale production of true to type, disease free olive nursery plants in public and private sector
  • Provision of olive plants to farmers through import and indigenous production
  • Human resource development through training on olive culture involving youth and gender
  • Provision of oil extraction units and value addition equipment to facilitate processing
  • Mother orchards development for bud wood provision
  • Plantation of olive plants on 3.351 acres has been completed. 560 farmers get benefited.
  • 16 trainings have been organized under the project for capacity building of olive stakeholders during the reporting period
  • 0.124 million cuttings were planted during the current year till December 2020
  • Drip irrigation systems have been installed on 342 acres on public and private olive orchards remaining in progress
  • 07 adaptability trials have been planted
The project shall pave way for large scale olive cultivation in the country reducing edible oil import, earning foreign exchange and safety of land and environmental degradation. Generation of employment and entrepreneurship.

  • Large no. of project components, difficult to manage.
  • Various project activities of last year like procurement, training, and other physical work poised due to the outbreak of pandemic COVID-19 worldwide.
  • Two project’s activities (Plantation target of 5000 acres and installation of DS tunnels 2019-20) will be carried over to the current year 2020-21 along with a plantation target of 17,195 acres for 2020-21 which will be a huge task and beyond the capacity of the project components
Latest implementation status of the decision/recommendation Linkages have been developed for value addition (olive pickle, olive leaf tea & oil processing, packaging and branding) like Unique value, Izhar farms Pvt. Ltd. & PARC Agrotech Company Pvt. Ltd. Moreover capacity building for value added products of olive are also being undertaken.
