SCOPE

The project is aimed to secure national food security through defining agro-ecological zones for selection of suitable crop growing areas for major and minor crops in the country. The specific objectives of the project include:

  • To develop spatial and attribute data of agro-climate, cropping pattern, and socio-economic using geospatial techniques
  • Identification and assessment of recent changes in climate, cropping pattern and land use in Pakistan
  • Updation of agro-ecological regions for selection of suitable crops grown and livestock production

Construction of the laboratory/office building in progress.

The project will significantly improve working conditions and professional capacity of the FSC&RD Seed Testing laboratory at an important port of entry i.e., Karachi
